I've wondered about this before...
I was over at Dating Dummy's site
and he brought up the question (nutshelling it here) about what do singles think when they see someone they're interested in with someone of the opposite gender? If I'm attracted to a guy and he's with a girl - do I approach, do I assume he's taken and therefore off the market?
Do go and read the comments there - very interesting dialogue going on...
Which leads me to my post today...I'm in a 'group' of friends that's usually about 4 women, 1 Guy (give or take the # of both genders) and I love to watch how people perceive what's going on with us. Is the '1 Guy' gay or are the 4 women desperate for this 1 guy? People SO don't realize how much nonverbal communication goes on...
When it's just me and the 1 Guy, people ALWAYS think we're together. Because I am a great female wingman (tooting of person horn here), I don't want to hinder his possibilities so I always give the 'oh, no, we're not...' explanation. The only kicker to the situation is that 1 Guy feels that I respond in such a way that he sometimes is offended. 'Why do you say we're not together like us being together is almost a bad thing?' It has often left me wondering why this freaks him out so.
I think there are two ways you could go with this. First, he wishes we were together and hearing me flat out saying we're not, hurts his feeling. I so don't think this is the reason.
The second & more believable route is that he thinks I'm saying 'We're not together' like, 'HEEEELLL NO I'm not with him and sister, you wouldn't want to be either.' I HONESTLY don't say it like that at all - really, I don't. So to stroke his ego, I've played the part a little - like when we're in a restaurant and waitperson asks if my boyfriend liked the dessert and I say, 'Oh yes, especially when I fed it to him'...I only do this when I know the waitperson is someone 1 Guy wouldn't be attracted to ;)
So, this is my thought-provoking question of the day...which route do you think it is?

Hey Cookie, I loved your post on this. The jury's still out! But you did give me a good laugh on the 'HEEELLL NO' part though - lol - I think that's what it is too. :)

Now, you didn't tell us what his reaction to the "fed it to him" comment was. Did he blush? Was he rico suave? Blush=crush on you, rico suave means he thought you were all heeeelll no.
I love it when my name actually shows up in a post and someone speaks directly to me - talk about stroking the ego.
Now on to the answer of this question:

Guys just don't hang out with girls unless they are slightly interested in them. I know I don't. I could care less about hanging out with a bunch of women at a Pampered Chef party, but if the host of the party just happens to be a cute little crumb cake, then not only will I show up for the party, I will purchase something I don't need and hopefully get the to take the crumb cake out for dessert.
I don't go see movies like "Hitch" with girls I am just friends with -I go in groups.
I NEVER hang out with groups of 4 girls at a time even though I graduated from Texas Women's University.
I suggest a DTR.
The next question is, Are you sure you are not interested in him?
I'd have to agree with Eddo. I'm coming at it from a reverse situation perspective. I used to hang out with a group of guys and I had it bad for one of them. When we'd go out alone, he'd do what you're doing and I would get hurt and he just didn't get it. Can you just talk to him about it and clear the air?

All I can say is WOW Cookie723. The other half and I just got back from our friends house (well her friends house) and I needed a huge break. I am working on a project right now that is based on mexican wedding favors. I have literally been on-line for 2-3 hours doing research. Even though this post really isn’t on the same page as mexican wedding favors I am certainly glad I came across your blog. There are a ton of great view points on this blog. Well I think I can here the kids screaming in the background. I put you in my internet favorites and I will certainly come back and visit. Hey Cookie723. Very nice blog :0) I just got inside from washing and waxing my truck. It is my baby. Took me 2 hours though. So I settled down into my basement and started doing some web surfing. Anyways I am in the process of grabbing my masters degree and have spent the last 6 months researching western wedding favors. In the midst of my surfing I landed smack dab in the middle of your blog. I hope you do not think I am intruding but I must say it is great blog. Even though this post is way off base from western wedding favors I found myself cruising through your blog archives for the last half hour :0) You have some nice blogging friends. So I grabbed myself a drink and stumbled across your blog while doing some research on mexican wedding favors for a upcoming project I am doing.
